tender-leaf-toys-baby-blocks
Tender Leaf Toys Baby Blocks

A first block puzzle for toddlers

This wooden baby blocks puzzle is a set of four cubes in a wooden tray. Each face carries a bright, simple animal illustration, and the challenge is to turn the cubes until they make a complete picture. There are four different pictures to find.

Why it works for 18 months and up

The pieces are large and chunky, so little hands can grip them. The tray keeps the cubes in place, which cuts down on the frustration of blocks sliding away. The illustrations use warm, bright colours and clean shapes, so toddlers can match a bird's wing or a fox's tail without any reading.

Skills in the mix

Turning blocks to match a picture builds hand-eye coordination and spatial thinking. Toddlers also practise concentration, and many will repeat the same picture again and again, which is how they get good at it. When they are ready, the blocks can be stacked and knocked down like ordinary building blocks.

Size

The tray measures about 10 cm square and 4.3 cm high, and the whole set weighs 181 g, so it fits in a nappy bag.

Where it fits

Move on to the Counting Carrots Wooden Stacker or the Wooden Touchy Feely Animals when your child has outgrown it.
