The Schleich Smilodon 15054 crouches low with its mouth open and long canine teeth on show. Often called a saber tooth tiger, Smilodon was a prehistoric cat rather than a modern tiger. This figure gives Ice Age collections a smaller, faster counterpoint to the huge mammoth.

Meet the saber-toothed hunter

The open jaw is the defining detail, with the two long canine teeth extending well below the mouth. A patterned brown coat helps the body stand out, and the stalking pose makes the figure look as though it is moving quietly through tall grass.

Children can use the Smilodon in a hunt, a museum scene or an imagined expedition into the Ice Age. Collectors may prefer to display it beside larger prehistoric animals where its low silhouette and teeth are easy to see.
